Allen Maltbie shipping accounts and correspondence, 1841-1856.

Financial accounts of voyages from Westport (Saugatuck), Connecticut to New York and Philadelphia to sell products such as onions, potatoes, butter, quinces, straw and eggs. Accounts include work records, ships' expenses, sales of cargo and items shipped for individuals. Two vessels are included, the Sloop Eagle and the Sloop General Mercer. Also includes a letter from his son, Clarence, and a notice about postage due in New York.
